Avoiding Valentines rush in the city gives us an excuse for an out of town trip near Manila. With tons of easy travel tips in Facebook, we quickly think of visiting Laiya in San Juan, Batangas.

How to get there:

1. Take a bus from Alps Buendia Terminal going to San Juan.

(Based on my research, only Alps has a direct route going to San Juan. Please do correct me if I'm wrong.) You can check their schedule here.

It costs us P190 per head for a one way trip. Same fare when traveling back to Manila. It was also approximately 2 hours or more travel time from Buendia terminal.

2. Once you alight the bus from San Juan terminal, walk towards the left side where you can see Jollibee, ask the locals on where to find the local market and ask for the tricycle terminal.

Now you have two options here, you can take a jeep going to the resort which costs max P40 each or rent a tricycle. We took the latter since we can't wait for the jeepney to have full passengers on board and le boyfriend is mainipin. Hahaha. The tricycle costs us P200 which is a steal since the trip lasted for an hour.

3. If you chose to take your car, you may follow the route directed by Waze.

Where to stay:

We stayed at Les Caraibes Beach Resort located in Brgy. Hugom. It is ideal for us since we want to have a scenic ocean view and a cottage by ourselves.

Big Cottage

For a 3 days and 2 nights stay, it costs us P6000. It has 3 queen-sized beds, own t&b, TV and breakfast included. Here's the view from our cottage:

After we settled in our cottage, we went straight to the beach. Here's us:

Warm, beautiful sand quickly soothes the stress from the city.

What to eat:

Batangas is known for their Special Lomi Batangas. What differs it from the rest is the handful of chicharon and other special toppings. What saddens me most, it is unavailable from the resort's restaurant. Though they have the regular lomi and wide array of food selection, I personally think that they should have this on their menu. After all, the province is really known for it.

This is the resort's Lomi. It costs P400 if I'm not mistaken but this one's good for 4 pax. We weren't able to finish this and the staff even offered to keep it and re-heat it for our merienda. Kudos to Kuya for being nice all thorughout our stay. :)

All hail the Batangas Lomi! This is the bomb. I loved how the big chunks of chicharon was incorporated to the lomi itself. Not sure what the other salty toppings were but it really drove me nuts. Look how generous they are with the laman, etc. This costs us less than P200 and is good for 4. We also ordered Pork Sisig since it it my favorite, too. We actually tried this when we were in the city proper. Kuya tricycle offered to take us on this place. (Sorry, I forgot the name of the restaurant). You can also buy this for pasalubong. They have plastic containers and a very secure lid.

What to do:

Aside from swimming, you can also enjoy several water activities and island hopping offered on your chosen resort. But we opt to pass on them since we've seen Laiya Adventure Park along the way. If Pampanga has Sandbox, then Batangas has Laiya Adventure Park!

Laiya Adventure Park offers several activities such as Zipline, Freefall, Aerial Walk, Giant Swing, Wall Climb, Rapelling, ATV rides and you can also relax on their infinity pool.

We rent a tricycle from the resort going to the park. It costs us P150 but this is too affordable for the ride. We took the highway and turn left on an undeveloped area, you wouldn't miss this since there are multiple tarpaulins. The actual adventure starts after we passed the underdeveloped area, little did we know that we'll pass through several hills before we get to the actual park. Hahaha.

Upon arrival, you will be asked to select your desired package. Our package rate may have been different to the current rates since they've added ATV. But we've shelled out Php 550 each which includes Aerial Walk, Zipline, Giant Swing, Wall Climb and Rapelling.

Wrist tags will serve as your gate pass to the park.

Here's Christian at the entrance of the park :)

Behind us is the Rappelling tower. Christian got to experience it while I opt to pass due to my jelly knees. :D

Another attraction is the Aerial Walk behind is. Trust me this isn't an easy one, this literally scared the shit out of me. I had wobbly knees from the Giant Swing and this didn't help my knees to calm down. Hahaha.

We also had our souvenir photos for Php 300. Nothing beats good memories.

Overall, it was an unforgettable trip. We surely had a blast in Batangas. If you want a quick out-of-town trip don't hesitate to visit Laiya!
